| Dear For ten years AIDS ACTION NOW! has been fighting to improve the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS through lobbying, demonstrations, media work and civil disobedience. As you can see from the information presented at this site, we've won some battles and we are proud of our contribution to treatment access, government policies, and social supports for people with HIV and AIDS. However, the war on AIDS is far from over. In spite of recent advances in medications there is no cure for AIDS. |
||
Historically our funding has come from bequests from the estates of people who have died of AIDS, supplemented by small fundraising events and the AIDS Walk. We can no longer count on bequests to fund our work and we are turning to you to help us build a war chest. Over the next few months, with your help we plan to raise $50,000. This will enable us to continue to fight for a cure and to improve the lives of people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. |

AAN! is run by
volunteers, most of us people living with AIDS.We have
one very part-time staff member. We do not accept
money from the government
or the pharmaceutical
industry because as an activist group we often
find ourselves challenging
them. We do not
qualify as a charity therefore cannot issue tax receipts. People continue to die from AIDS. |
| Federal
and Provincial cutbacks to health care threaten to
produce a two tier health system in Canada; a system that
will not serve PWAs or ordinary Canadians. Cuts to
social services in Ontario mean deeper poverty
to people living with AIDS and other disabilities.
Pharmaceutical companies often put their profits
before the lives of PWAs. The human rights of PWAs
are still often under
attack. And, of
course, there is
no cure. Please
help us ensure that AAN! has the resources to address
these challenges in the future. Thank you for your support. Tim
