Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) promotes
the health and well-being of
LGBTQ people their families and friends through:
support ~ to cope with an adverse society
education ~ to inform and enlighten the public,
to promote acceptance and inclusivity
The purpose of PFLAG is to support, educate, and provide resources to
parents, families and friends of LGBTQ people, and also to LGBTQ people themselves.
Help can come in the way of a simple conversation, a shoulder to cry on, peers to celebrate with, literature to read, or referrals to appropriate resources near you.
PFLAG gives presentations for school groups, professional organizations,
youth groups, and virtually any other group of people who would benefit from this information.
Attendees will learn how to create inclusive and accepting environments,
and will learn what it's like to
come out, or to have a family member or friend come out.
Many resources are available to attendees,
and of course there is always time for Q&A.
LGBTQ = lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgendered, two-spirit, intersex, queer, and questioning
PFLAG provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity,
and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.
Support meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM
January through November. Contact us for details on the December meeting.
Some meetings will have speakers on topics of current interest.
All meetings will provide a support segment.
All conversations held during the support component are considered confidential
and do not go beyond our meeting space.

Is life not a hundred times too short for us to stifle ourselves.

Everybody's journey is individual. If you fall in love with a boy, you fall in love with a boy. The fact that many Americans consider it a disease says more about them than it does about homosexuality.

~Johann von Goethe
Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself.

While many minority groups are the target for prejudice... and discrimination... in our society, few persons face this hostility without the support and acceptance of their family as do many gay, lesbian, and bisexual youth.
