Pride,
not Prejudice.
Welcome to Regina's
2002 Les + Bi + Gay Pride Week celebration! June is the month we
commemorate the 1969 police raid-turned-riot at the Stonewall Inn
in New York, which was the beginning of the modern gay/les/bi rights
movement. Queer folk all over the the world will take to the streets
this June to celebrate diversity and show their pride. In this booklet
you will find listings for of all the events planned for Regina's
celebration!
New to Pride
Week this year are listings for Pride related events that happen
either before, or after the official week. We hope you enjoy this
expanded palette of opportunities to celebrate Queer pride and attend
these fabulous events. June truly has become Pride Month in Regina!
Pride Not Prejudice
is this year's theme, and the week's events provide many excellent
opportunities to get out and prove that hatred and intolerance are
not acceptable values in Regina. On June 22, come out and join all
your queer-peers and straight-but-not-narrow allies from across
our province, as we march to celebrate diversity and equality at
the Rainbow Pride Parade.
So whether you're
queer, gay, lesbian, bi, two-spirited, or straight-but-not-narrow,
we hope to see you at the parade and at the many exciting events
throughout the week-and month!
Saskatchewan's
third annual pride parade will once again be hosted in the Queen
City! In each ofthe last 2 years, we have had over 350 people take
part. This year will be bigger and better!
