This event was an evening of firsts...Tone Cluster hosted
three Ottawa Arts Organizations (Canadian Centennial Choir,
Orpheus Musical Theatre, Ottawa School of Speech and Drama)
in front of a first class panel of judges in competition
for the title of Show Tune Showdown Champion.
The inaugural Show Tune Showdown Champion was Orpheus Musical
Theatre.

We Are Family

Songs that celebrated families - all kinds of families!
Tone Cluster performed a selection of material including
songs in French and English, a choral version of the William
Tell Overture, and “Hope There Is,” written by
a New Zealand woman influenced by Australian Aboriginal music.
Guest artists included ¡OLÉ! and the Gingerbread
Choir, both directed by Greg MacIntosh. ¡OLÉ!
is a theatrical ensemble of nine singers, actors, dancers,
and comedians who love to challenge stereotypes through
songs, dances, and skits. The Gingerbread Choir, …only
eight months old is composed of 24 seven-to-nine-year-olds
with a real flair for performance.
A queer choir and a children’s choir on the same program
was a first for Ottawa! |
The Rainbow Effect

Gay choirs and church choirs shared the same stage in a
musical celebration of diversity. The choirs of the First
Unitarian Congregation were pleased to host Tone Cluster (quite
a queer choir!) and the Ottawa Gay Men's Chorus. |

blend of music from around the globe. Featured guests included:
Louis Trepanier (member of the Canadian Guitar Quartet) playing
Spanish music for solo guitar and Yurika Murakami (member of
Oto-Wa Taiko) providing a Japanese drum and dance solo. |
