In Temagami

Getaway 2003
Isn't
it time to start thinking about a getaway week this summer? Well...
Think Lake Temagami, land of the old-growth forest! At the beautiful
Camp Wanapitei "Chateau" Lodge, you look onto one kilometre
of sandy beach, a great lake to explore, a quiet river on which
to paddle, kilometres of varied hiking trails, high hills, vistas
and long views of the deep and clean Lake Temagami, canoes, kayaks,
skinny-dipping in a waterfall, much flora and bird sighting, historical
notes of the lives past and present of the Teme-Augama-Anishnabe
Ojibway band, and the ever-controversial land claims (yes, it's
on this land), campfires and sing-songs, stars, and the stunning
aurora borealis.
Just
a peaceful, invigorating time with friends and lovers. Three gourmet
meals (all you can eat!) and refreshments each day. A women-only
event. Last year's Getaway Week saw up to 18 WRIB members and friends,
"Beach Goddesses" all, soaking up the good times, and
many of them have signed up again!
We
still have a few spots left for the week of August 3-9. Your registration
is accepted NOW with a non-refundable deposit of $100, and the registration
deadline is July 15, 2003.
Note that the August 10-16 Getaway Week has
been cancelled.
Shared
rooms at $82 per person per night. Includes all rentals (canoes
and kayaks, for example). Lodge is accessible only by shared water-taxi,
and that will be an additional fee (to be determined).
Arrangements for car-pooling from the GTA will be made in July.
Drivers will be pampered!

2nd SUMMER HEAT dance.

when you send in your RSVP... AND... You must also tell
your server at the dinner that you want this entree.

Mixed Organic Greens with Julienned Vegetables, tossed in a Blueberry
Balsamic Vinaigrette, topped with Cajun Roasted Almonds and Shredded
Parmesan.

Potluck Lunch
Shirley
A. (WRIB's Fine Arts Group coordinator) has hosted a series of terrific
potluck lunches in her home. Happy guests cheerfully devoured their
own fine cooking -- seconds, and even thirds, were the rule. And
some seriously yummy desserts were too tempting to pass up. Sounds
like a great afternoon, eh? And you couldn't attend? Not to worry
-- it's time once more for a Summer Potluck! Bring your best home
cookin' or trot out your favourite party dish.
Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided or you can bring your own,
if you prefer.
Location: Hwy. 427 & Lakeshore ( longbranch), at the hosts home.
Walking distance to the beach, for an after lunch stroll.
TTC riders will meet at Kipling Subway.

Saturday of each month. Join the gang for the pick of the month.
This event is open to everyone, and your only cost is the price
of the movie and, of course, your refreshments. Send us an email
to have your name placed on the notifications list, and please,
make sure you include a contact phone number, in case we need
to advise you of last-minute changes in plans. If you don't
have access to e-mail on Friday or on weekends, please specify
that in your message, and our Movie Host, Maryse, will contact

is playing at the Paramount
( 295 Richmond Avenue west, corner of John and Richmond, steps from
Osgoode subway station, 416-368-5600 ). We will go to the 3:00 PM
show in the afternoon. We will meet at 2:30 at the main entrance
of the theater.

At the Docks |
Mini-Putt
at the Docks
Come
enjoy a day at the Docks, Mini-Putting with the Women of WRIB. 18
Holes -- are you game? ("No Putt" intended!) Spend a day
by the lake and, hopefully, it will be nice enough to watch the
sailboats float by.
Cost per person is $8.00 per game, 18 holes. (weekend rate)
Driving Range Cost:
$12.00 for regular bucket of balls (65 balls).
$15.00 for a large bucket of balls (102 balls)
When
we get done mini-putting, we can jump into the Go-Karts and do a
couple of laps around their 1.2 km of track... with speeds up to
40 kmh!
Prices are: $4.50 for a single lap.
$14.00 for 4 laps
$20.00 for 7 laps
All laps can be shared. (two can share the tickets)
