A Singles-Only Special Event: "CARDS FOR THE CURE" A Creative Card-Making Workshop - CANCELLED Not enough signed up!
Singles Hosts Susan C and Susan P invite you to join them for a wonderful Sunday-afternoon workshop and fundraiser, "Cards for the Cure." You will learn to make beautiful greeting cards for all occasions. Our instructor is a member of the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild, and she'll show you a bundle of nifty tricks, using a mélange of colourful papers. The techniques are easy, and the results will amaze you. Why purchase expensive cards when you can make your own beautiful creations for a fraction of the price? After this workshop, you can continue to make cards at home easily with no special tools.
This will also be a fundraising event. Proceeds will be donated to benefit breast cancer research at Princess Margaret Hospital, an international leader in the fight against cancer and the largest institution in Canada devoted to cancer treatment, innovative research, and informative education programs.
And after the workshop, we'll enjoy some refreshments, shmooze for a while, and of course, admire each other's creative efforts!
Cost: $25
($15 for the workshop, materials fee, and refreshments, and a donation of $10 to Princess Margaret Hospital)
This event is limited to 15 participants only. It's a one-of-a-kind event, so don't miss out! |

Kill Bill Vol2
"Despite their hilariously florid rapping, Quentin Tarantino's creations
are also incredibly cagey: they never give the entire game away.
This shrewdness is the template for the long dialogues in Kill Bill,
Vol. 2,the most voluptuous comic book movie ever made. In this
deliciously perverse picture, everything is operatic, including the
despair and the pauses. Uma Thurman, whose speaking voice has a lyric, teasing quality, is just the performer to get the mordant sl yness across. Mr. Tarantino's movies are also about loss and betrayal, and Vol. 2 is a double-burger helping of those motifs. It is rich, substantial and
sustained, yet also greasy kids' stuff, a wrapper filled with an extra
large order of chili fries, stained with ketchup, salt and cheese.
Vol. 1 was all set-up: the longest first act in movie history, staged and
edited like a series of Pablo Ferro trailers.
Vol. 2 is the second and
third acts in one convenient serving, told in a languorous
flashback-within-a-flashback style with airy long takes."-Elvis Mitchell,
New York Times.
With David Carradine, Sonny Chiba, Vivica A. Fox, Daryl Hannah, Samuel L. Jackson, Lucy Liu, Michael Madsen |
